This is our version of the great Prospector, a little smaller in length: 15"-6' for lightness but with all the sea worthiness and carrying capacity of her name sake. I designed this canoe thirty five years ago for flat water canoeing in the open water of Georgian Bay Islands, raising the fore quarters in order to give more free board for quartering waves. She has hard bilges, a relativily flat bottom for stability, a moderate rocker for river running, has great carrying capacity with plenty of freeboard, light weight for portaging and built with closley spaced ribs for great strengh. My family and I have used #1 original canoe for thirty five years of canoeing , all over Ontario,we would not change a thing about her design, she is perfect as she is, a great Canadian wilderness workhorse or I should say thoroughbred, she is pure stock built to last a lifetime and beyond.
